Friends of the disabled

Friends of the disabled Isale Eko Lagos Island is truly the place to bring social and economic change to the community of disabled people through education and skills training.

Chinedu Dibor and I on the 12th of April 2011 had a chat with the staff who took us on a tour around the facility.
Disabled, both young and adult are taught tailoring, welding, bead making, shoe making, bag making fish farming and computer skills.

I was really impressed at the proper management and organisation. The classrooms, skill acquisition rooms, hostels, neat and clean environment. The rapport between staff and even speech and hearing impaired students was great. I saw them as one big family.
I was happy to find a name sake. Blessing was making a jeans skirt.

I met Chidinmma who was in his math class, preparing for GCE. He wants to be a lawyer.

A big thanks to Chief Mrs Orduh for giving me the opportunity to visit her facility. I kept on saying "this woman get mind ooo"

Mini-short Film Festival- QCY

The screening for the best short films from Queens college was held on Thursday 14th April 2011. Four movies were selected at the end which would represent Queens College at the Nigerian Youth Short Film Festival this year.

For 5 hours I was totally reminded of what life in QCY was like back in the days (not so long ago though).
Bring It On Crew still giving the QCY dance flavor, Talents and potentials (T&P thanks to Temilola Balogun) with FASH-PA (Fashion parade) and the girl that did the Bruno Mars Billionaire song  left me with goosebumps and watery eyes.
Screaming at the sound of the latest hit songs, singing along loudly, swinging to the latest dance moves (not to forget steppers mouth). The DJ on the wheels (do not even know he's name) kept the girls in the mood while we try to sought our logistic issues (PHCN and Generator matters)  to make sure we had a good event leaving us so exhausted at the end. It must have been a cool getaway from their books as I later discovered they would be sitting for their final exams in a few days (Physics for that matter).
Everything just was the same and I caught myself a few times reacting to certain things the same way the girls did.
